I stayed for 2 nights this weekend in the So Comfy Earth themed room after being on the wait list and it was definitely worth it! We arrived Friday night and had a little bit of trouble finding the hotel from the BTS--it ends up being about a 15 minute walk from the Saladeng station. Upon our arrival we were greeted in the lobby and taken up to the 9th floor for a welcome drink while our room was prepared.
The room was booked in advance by my mother back in the states as a birthday celebration. We were escorted to our room on the 22nd floor after finishing our drinks and I was blown away! The staff member showed us the amenities of the room which included complimentary wi-fi on the giant flat screen television and healthy mini bar snacks, water, and juices. A his and her grooming kit with travel sized spa products was in the bathroom along with full sized shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, and lotion. In the bedroom there was a chilled bottle of white wine, gourmet bite-sized snacks, a birthday cake (with matches for the candles!), and a box of chocolates.
After the staff member left the room we explored all the various switches and gadgets in the room. I can see the room being a bit frustrating for the non-tech savvy and we even had to sleep with a few of the lights on in the room because we couldn't figure out how to turn them off! Also, the cups provided for coffee, tea, and espresso are not the best for hot beverages. They are very trendy, but to avoid burning my hands I had to wrap several tissues around the mug.
The room was spotless and the bed was easily the most comfortable I have ever slept in. There was a divider separating the bathroom from the bedroom which added a nice touch of privacy when using the giant bathtub. The blue color scheme was beautiful and unusual and I found myself taking photos of everything in the room--from the curtains, to the mirrored design on one side of the divider, and the breathtaking view of Lumpini Park.
I also went to the spa for the rejuvenating body scrub and massage and was treated like royalty. During my time I had my own suite, complete with massage table (just as comfortable as the room bed and heated!), shower, changing area, and bathroom. I was offered herbal tea throughout my experience, and chocolates at the end. The masseuse was professional and I felt comfortable and relaxed during each part of the experience. Once again, everything was spotless and there were views of the park from the waiting area.
Both nights we ended up ordering room service. There is an extensive and very reasonably priced menu. We ordered the mezze platter, roasted chicken, and caprese salad which were all delicious. After room service we got drinks on the 29th floor rooftop bar which provided the best view I've seen of Bangkok at night. The restaurant next door is extremely expensive and with a more limited menu, which persuaded us to have room service a second night. But the room was so perfect we didn't want to leave! There is another restaurant called the Red Oven, but after sitting down for lunch our second day we found out that it was buffet style only and we opted to eat in the lobby restaurant instead which was great, and I would highly recommend the spring rolls and club sandwich.
Overall, I was extremely pleased with my stay at the Sofitel So. The room was impeccable and and I felt utterly pampered and relaxed throughout my stay. I can't wait to recommend this hotel to all friends and family that come to Bangkok. Thank you Sofitel So for making my birthday the best to date!
